Physical Planning in its broadest sense refers to a set of actions aimed at improving the Physical, Social and Economic welfare of a place and its dwellers. It entails the organization of land uses so that people enjoy the highest achievable degree of efficiency in resource utilization, functionality of places and aesthetic quality.
The evolution of Physical Planning in Uganda for the past ten years has given rise to the need for Physical Planning technicians to be trained, further the Physical Planners Registration Act 2023 has gazetted the Job rank of Physical Planning Assistant creating a capacity gap at the diploma level at (Cities, municipal councils, sub-counties) among other areas. The Uganda State of Urban sector report 2021-2022 puts the Urbanization rate at 5.2% per annum, this means there is an increase in urban sprawl and its associated effects, this has been manifested in different parts of the country.
This program therefore aims at;
Equipping the learners with practical skills and knowledge, so as to fill the technical capacity gap in the world of employment.
To produce graduates with the required technical skills to expedite their duties professionally in various areas like urban authorities.
Develop the capacity of learners to deal with the emerging planning and development issues at the urban and regional scales while considering emerging realities.
Produce graduates who are capable of enrolling for further advanced studies.
